The Wedding Photographer's Workflow: Batch-Converting a Full RAW Shoot
A single wedding can produce two to four thousand RAW files, and the couple wants to see photos while the day is still fresh in their minds. Shooting RAW is non-negotiable for the quality and latitude it gives you — but it also means every deliverable needs converting. Here's a workflow that turns a full card of RAW files into a client-ready JPG gallery without eating your evening.
Step 1: Cull before you convert
Don't convert everything. Do a fast first pass and cut the obvious rejects — blinks, misfires, duplicates. Converting 800 keepers instead of 3,000 raw frames saves time and keeps the gallery tight. Cull ruthlessly; clients prefer a strong edit over an exhausting dump.
Step 2: Batch-convert to JPG
Once you've picked keepers, convert them in batches rather than one at a time.
