How do I convert a PDF to Excel?

Upload your PDF, and the tool automatically detects tables on each page and extracts them into an Excel (XLSX) workbook. Each table becomes its own sheet, so you can open, edit, and analyze the data in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

This tool extracts tables from digital PDFs that contain real, selectable text. Scanned or image-only PDFs need OCR first — use our free Image to Text (OCR) tool to make the PDF searchable, then convert it here.

Will my table formatting be preserved?

The tool preserves the row-and-column structure of each detected table so your data lands in the right cells. Visual styling like colors and fonts is not carried over — the goal is clean, editable data you can work with immediately.

How many pages can I convert for free?

Free users can convert tables from the first 3 pages of a PDF. Upgrade to Pro to convert every page of the document, plus larger files and batch conversion.

What if my PDF has multiple tables?

Every table the tool detects is placed on its own sheet in the Excel file, labelled by page and table number (for example P2_T1). This keeps separate tables from being mixed together and makes them easy to find.

Is my data secure?

Files are uploaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection, processed on our server, and automatically deleted within 24 hours. We never store, read, or share your documents.

Do I need Microsoft Excel installed?

No. The output is a standard XLSX file that opens in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, and Apple Numbers. No software installation is required to convert or open the file.

Why were no tables found in my PDF?

The tool detects tables from the PDF's underlying structure. If a 'table' is actually an image, a scan, or free-flowing text without a real grid, no table is detected. Run image-only PDFs through OCR first, or check that the PDF has selectable text.
