Why iFormat Exists
iFormat started from a frustration most people share: needing to convert a single file and landing on a site bloated with pop-ups, fake progress bars, and mandatory account creation. We built the tool we wished existed — fast, clean, and private.
Today, iFormat serves millions of file operations every month across 200+ tools spanning image, audio, video, document, archive, ebook, and font formats. The platform supports 11 languages and users in over 180 countries.
How We Build
We take a browser-first approach: wherever possible, files are processed directly in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript — your data never leaves your device. For operations that require server processing (large videos, AI-powered tools, complex document conversions), we use isolated processing containers with encrypted transfers and automatic file deletion within 30 minutes.
The platform is built on Django with a focus on performance. Pages are server-rendered for fast initial loads, tools use lazy loading and progressive enhancement, and we optimize Core Web Vitals continuously. Our infrastructure runs on dedicated servers, not shared cloud functions, giving us full control over processing speed and data handling.
