PDF to PNG - A PDF page as a sharp image, text and all
The careful way to turn a PDF page into a picture: no compression artefacts, so the edges of letters stay clean. It is the right pick when the page is mostly text, a clause from a contract, a filled-in example of a form, and whatever receives it needs an image rather than a document. The files run 2-5× the size of the JPG equivalent, and in exchange the text holds up at any zoom.
PDF to PNG: high-fidelity page rasterization
Like PDF-to-JPG, this rasterizes each page at a chosen DPI, but stores the result as lossless PNG instead of lossy JPG. The DEFLATE compression preserves every rendered pixel perfectly, text edges stay razor-sharp, and gradients show no banding or blocking artifacts. PNG files are larger than equivalent JPGs but the quality difference is noticeable for documents with fine text, thin lines, and technical diagrams.
Convert PDF to PNG when quality is critical, OCR preprocessing (sharp text improves recognition accuracy), technical documentation screenshots, archival of rendered pages, or any context where JPG compression artifacts would be visible or problematic.
