PDF Page Extraction FAQ

Quick answers about extracting pages from PDFs, output quality, and supported file sizes.

How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?

Upload your PDF, click the page thumbnails you want to keep, then click 'Extract Pages & Download'. A new PDF is created containing only those selected pages. Your original file remains completely unmodified throughout the process.

Can I extract non-consecutive pages?

Yes. Click any combination of page thumbnails to select them. For example, you can extract pages 2, 5, and 10 into a single new PDF — the pages do not need to be adjacent. They appear in the output in the order they exist in the original.

Will extracting pages reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied directly without re-encoding any content. Text, images, links, bookmarks, and formatting in the extracted pages are identical to the original. The process is completely lossless.

What's the difference between Extract and Split?

Extract lets you hand-pick specific pages to keep and combines them into one new PDF. Split divides the entire PDF into separate single-page files. Use extract when you need a specific subset of pages in a single document.

Is there a page limit for extraction?

No. The tool handles PDFs of any length — you can extract 1 page or 500 pages. Very large documents may take a few extra seconds to upload and process, but there is no restriction on page count.

Is my PDF file secure during processing?

Yes. Your file is uploaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection, processed on our server, and deleted immediately after you download the result. We never store, read, or share your documents with any third party.

Can I extract pages from a scanned or image-based PDF?

Yes. The extraction tool works with all PDF types, including scanned documents and image-only PDFs. Each page is displayed as a thumbnail so you can visually identify and select the pages you need regardless of their content type.

Does extracting pages preserve the original page order?

Yes. The extracted pages appear in the output PDF in the same order they have in the original document. If you select pages 8, 3, and 15, they will be ordered as 3, 8, 15 in the resulting file.

Can I use this tool to pull a single chapter out of a long PDF?

Yes. This is one of the most common use cases. Upload the full PDF, select the consecutive pages that make up the chapter, and download a new PDF containing only that section. It is ideal for sharing specific parts of reports, books, or manuals.

What happens to form fields and annotations when I extract pages?

Interactive form fields, annotations, and comments on the extracted pages are preserved in the output PDF. However, cross-page references such as document-level bookmarks pointing to non-extracted pages will no longer function in the new file.
