Quality: Chapter structure and text preserved cleanly. Kindle-specific formatting (page-numbering, X-Ray data) is lost.

MOBI to EPUB: migrating to the open standard
MOBI's internal structure is HTML-based, similar to EPUB, but uses Amazon's proprietary packaging and index format. The conversion extracts the HTML content and images from the MOBI container, reconstructs chapter structure from the MOBI's index records, applies CSS formatting, and repackages everything as a standard EPUB. DRM-protected MOBI files (purchased from Amazon) cannot be converted, the content is encrypted with the device's serial number.
