About the SRW Format
SRW is the raw format used by Samsung's NX-series mirrorless cameras. Like other raw formats it stores the unprocessed sensor data, letting you set white balance, exposure and noise reduction after the fact rather than accepting what the camera decided at the moment of capture.
Samsung left the camera business in 2015, which makes SRW an unusually risky format to leave an archive in. No new software support is being written for it, and some editors have quietly dropped their SRW decoders. Converting an SRW library to DNG preserves the raw latitude in a documented, openly specified container; converting to TIFF or JPEG is the right move when the edit is finished and you want a file that will still open in twenty years.
